History

UCP of Southwest Florida in Naples formerly operated under the name of Sunrise Community of Collier County.  The non-profit organization was originally chartered in 1972 as the Guadalupe Educational Improvement Center, Inc. In 1977 the agency changed its name to the Training and Educational Center for the Handicapped and in 1984 shortened to TECH of Collier County, Inc., providing a wide range of services to individuals with disabilities in Collier County.  In 1997, TECH of Collier County, Inc. merged into the Sunrise Group and added an Adult Day Training program.  Even today, many longtime residents of Collier Country refer to our operations as “TECH of Collier County, Inc.”

UCP of Southwest Florida is an affiliate of the Sunrise Group, which is composed of various private,  not-for-profit corporations. These provide programs, services, assistance and supports for more than 1,500 people with disabilities in seven states including Florida.

Every year in Collier County.
